Position Summary:


This position involves working with teachers and administrators in the education industry to improve student achievement. They are responsible for providing guidance and support, observing and providing feedback on teaching practices, and designing and delivering professional development opportunities. The Teacher Coach collaborate with educators to identify and address areas for growth, while also promoting best practices and staying current on research-based instructional strategies.


Responsibilities:

  • Model lessons for teachers within their classrooms using best instructional practices.
  • Lead, guide, model, and support small group instruction initiatives in classrooms.
  • Provide in-class consultation and support for teachers.
  • Meet with teachers in grade groups, PLC meetings, individually, or as content bands to develop instructional skills, discuss best practices, facilitate book studies, dissect student achievement data, and develop action plans.
  • Analyze assessment data with teachers and support teachers with developing MTSS plans, intervention plans, and instructional plans for students requiring remediation, support, or enrichment.
  • Support teachers with strategies to analyze student data to facilitate lesson planning and student growth.
  • Conference with, discuss, and provide feedback to teachers concerning developing professional instructional strategies.
  • Support teachers with understanding Act 13 professional evaluation requirements, how teachers are evaluated in Pennsylvania, and the specific components teachers are evaluated based upon.
  • Support teachers with understanding and implementing best practices within the PDE observation template and expectations for teacher performance within various observable domains.
  • Support teachers with PVAAS data, roster verification, SPM, and other required evaluation entities.
  • Support teachers with lesson and unit planning.
  • Support teachers with instructional standards, vertical alignment of standards, and content-specific alignment.
  • Discuss and support teachers with classroom management strategies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support teachers with family and parental contact procedures and best practices.
  • Facilitate teachers in the development of classroom systems for assignments, planning, preparation, grading, and lesson delivery.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers in consultation with central office and building leadership.
  • Support with district-wide professional development planning, facilitation, and plan creation.


Required Qualifications:

  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Possess excellent writing skills.
  • Strong knowledge of computer based organizational systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Applications, SMART applications, Lumio, and publisher-specific online portals for curricular resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and utilize web-based curricular management systems.
  • Demonstrate educational technology competence and the ability to utilize technological tools to improve instruction.
  • Facilitate model lesson planning and model lesson delivery.
  • Preferred but not required: experience as a teacher coach, interventionist, data specialist, or other relevant teacher leadership experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of modern curricular methodology, including Project-Based Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, Blended Learning, Gradual Release of Responsibility, cross-competency learning, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to confidently present critical information to colleagues, school leaders, and the Southeast Delco School District community.
  • Willingness to support, coach, mentor, and engage with staff to develop instructional best practices, improve instruction, and analyze data.
  • Have an exemplary attendance record.
  • Be willing to participate in staff development and perform turn-around training, attend professional development, district-level meetings, and support building administration with district and building-level professional development opportunities.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification.
  • Must have demonstrated years of successful teaching experience.
  • Master's Degree in Education or a related field of study required
  • Must be Tenured.
  • 7+ years of experience teaching in an education environment


The Teacher Coach will serve as a liaison between the district, school, and professional staff, in terms of information and instructional support. The Teacher Coach is expected to become fluent with school-level data, trends, individual classroom level data, and instructional best practices.

  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (ACT 168)
  • School Personnel Health Record and TB test

Level of Compensation: This job is part of the SDEA contract.

This is a Full-time 10-month position.
