The full-time credit recovery teacher is the primary facilitator for Joplin students. The teacher will be assigned a caseload of students and is responsible for helping students achieve mastery of learning objectives, provide guidance, tutoring, and guiding students to set goals to be successful.

  • Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources.
  • Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position.
  • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy.
  • Solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties.
  • Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.


Essential Functions:

  • Answering and helping students get orientated; This includes communicating via email, phone, and online.
  • Supporting students with all general school information and enrolling in courses, K-8th grades
  • Examine academic progress and activity of student caseload on a daily and weekly basis
  • Daily and weekly contact to students who are showing signs of failing/or not understanding standards
  • Deliver frequent tutoring through Google Hangouts
  • Ensure weekly communication with all caseload students and parents on current progress in assigned courses
  • Schedule students for end of course (cumulative) exams
  • Attend IEP meetings, if required
  • Schedule IEP meetings, if required
  • Providing Constructive Feedback to students in the subject areas
  • Ensure compliance documents such as communication logs and student progress are completed in a timely manner
  • Proctoring end of course examines (cumulative) for students
  • Returning all communication with parents/students ASAP but no longer than 24 hours
  • Attending staff meetings
  • Help brainstorm ways to motivate and reward students
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment:

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
