Purpose of Job:
To teach English learner (EL) students while researching and providing academic strategies and resources to the education staff contributing to successful student achievement. To provide on-site direct support to the site staff and students in the overall management and operation of the school, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. Assist with a wide range of tasks, including overseeing student discipline and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Physical Presence: Must be able to maintain a regular on-site presence to effectively support students, collaborate with colleagues, and fulfill the responsibilities of the role. While virtual work may be permitted based on specific site needs and work responsibilities, the ability to be physically present at designated locations as needed is essential to the successful execution of this position’s duties.
Classroom Management
Classroom Attendance
Establish clear classroom attendance expectations for students.
Maintain expected student communication and document attendance utilizing identified GOAL systems.
Academic Intervention – MTSS
Monitor student attendance data to identify and provide interventions to students who are not actively engaged in class.
Ensure quality and timely documentation of all interventions provided.
Active Student and Parent Communication
Communicate regularly with students and parents to keep the student progressing toward academic success, including, but not limited to, providing progress reports, class expectations, student participation rates and when needed, arrange/support student/parent teacher conferences.
Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
Teaching / Tutoring
Quality Courses and Instruction
Utilize GOAL established guidelines for quality course structure and instructional practices.
Grading and Gradebooks
Maintain complete and accurate grading and gradebooks in the GOAL LMS (Schoology).
Ensure weekly gradebook updates by the close of business each Friday.
Sheltered Instruction
English Learner Plan (ELP)
Utilize ELP (while recognizing student’s language ability) to optimize instruction, monitor progress and provide direction to teammates, parents, and students.
Shelter Instruction Implementation
Model quality sheltered instruction to assist other teammates in implementing SI in their classroom/course designs.
Champion instructional technologies specific to EL students, providing training to students, parents, and staff, as necessary.
Gladiator Connections/Advocacy
Advocacy
Facilitate and support the school’s literacy intervention services program.
Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the math needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students.
Communication
Build connections with staff, students, and parents to keep the student progressing toward academic success, working as a united team to set goals, provide support and overcome barriers to academic progress. This will include, but not limited to, attending family support meetings, connecting through group messaging and meetings, and providing updates on student academic performance.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly with regard to intervention services programming.
Extra-Curricular
Possess and share a general knowledge of GOAL Academy's extra-curricular activities and student opportunities.
Student Learning
Assess and Monitor Growth
Champion GOAL's culture of assessment by ensuring student participation and proctoring throughout the year.
Utilize pre/post assessment data to monitor and guide academic growth.
Identify and set student growth targets and/or needed interventions.
Analyze existing student achievement data and administer progress monitoring instruments as needed to aid in progress monitoring of intervention students.
Success Team
Participate in regular meetings to collaborate with team members to analyze data surrounding student performance and passer ratings.
Work with team to develop strategies to improve student performance in core classes and curriculum.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess a valid Driver's License
Must reside in Colorado.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, or related field required.
One of the following Certifications to teach English Learners in CLDE, CELTA, TESOL, TEFL, required. *CLDE Preferred
Highly Qualified as a Colorado Secondary Educator (e.g., Math, English, Science, Social Studies), Colorado Teaching licensed and/or additional Highly Qualified areas preferred.
Valid Colorado Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education License or enrollment in this program preferred.
Experience:
Three to five years of experience working in a school or school system preferred.
At least two years of experience working in a high school with at risk youth preferred.
Or other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
History of advanced knowledge of differentiated instruction, knowledge of different learning styles and challenges, and the ability to apply them to English learners in a blended learning environment.
Demonstrated work history in teaching in an English as a Secondary Language environment.
Solid background in the ability to design learning activities that are effective for English learners.
Advanced knowledge and/or experience of instruction, testing, data analysis, and curriculum development.
Can show an advanced knowledge of education data analysis, collaborative decision-making, relationship building, group facilitation, conflict management, problem-solving, as well as resource allocation and prioritization.
Demonstrated history working with technology including application of various office programs and ability to deliver/instruct/guide students on material/equipment dealing with technology.
Love for children and ability to work enthusiastically on their behalf.
Current or previous positions required excellent interpersonal, organizational, time-management, verbal, and written communication skills.
Solid employment background being well versed in conflict resolution skills with the ability to mediate conflicts (e.g., between students, staff, parents, or community members).
Ethical, honest, and good-humored.
