We are growing into a larger licensed center serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and are seeking a nurturing, experienced Lead Infant Teacher to help bring our philosophy to life in the classroom.

Position Overview

The Lead Infant Teacher is responsible for the daily care, supervision, and development of infants ages 6 weeks–18 months in their assigned classroom.

This role includes implementing responsive caregiving routines, supporting early developmental milestones, maintaining licensing compliance, and building strong relationships with families.

The Lead Infant Teacher works closely with the Center Director and Assistant Teachers to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.

Responsibilities

Classroom & Child Development

  • Ensure the health, safety, and active supervision of children at all times (Title 22 compliance)
  • Maintain appropriate ratios and classroom organization
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum
  • Incorporate Montessori and Reggio-inspired materials and child-led learning experiences
  • Support social-emotional growth through positive discipline and gentle guidance
  • Observe and document children’s development and milestones

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate attendance, child files, and incident reports
  • Follow all California Community Care Licensing regulations
  • Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training

Family & Team Collaboration

  • Build warm, professional relationships with families
  • Communicate regularly regarding children’s routines, development, and progress
  • Collaborate with Assistant Teachers and participate in staff meetings
  • Maintain appropriate ratios and classroom organization

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 ECE units (including Child Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, and Curriculum)
  • Minimum 50 days experience in a licensed early childhood center
  • Knowledge of Infant development and responsive caregiving practices
  • Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia experience (preferred)
  • Current Pediatric CPR & First Aid (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong classroom leadership and communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squat, and move throughout the day
  • Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations
