Description:
The Teacher-Librarian serves as an instructional leader who manages the school library media center and promotes information literacy. This role is essential in fostering a culture of reading and ensuring students and staff have access to diverse educational resources.


Duties:

  • Manage the school library collection, including the selection, acquisition, and organization of print and digital resources.
  • Provide instruction to students on research skills, information literacy, and the ethical use of technology.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design lesson plans that incorporate library resources and meet state standards.
  • Maintain a welcoming and organized learning environment that encourages independent study and reading.
  • Facilitate access to digital databases and provide technical support for library-related software.
  • Oversee the library budget and maintain accurate records of materials and equipment.
  • Stay current with best practices in library science and educational technology through professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s in Library Science preferred).
  • Valid Teaching Credential.
  • Valid California Teacher Librarian Services Credential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of literature for young adults and effective library management practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
