The J.Turner Hood Elementary School is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to start in the 2025-2026 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.


Essential duties

  • Serve as a teacher in a multi-grade substantially separate ABA based classroom
  • Serve as the liaison for students on your caseload which includes completing educational assessments, functional behavior assessments, developing behavior intervention plans, completing progress reports, and chairing IEP annual review meetings as well as progress reviews
  • Collaborate with general education and special education teachers
  • Support inclusion opportunities as appropriate
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians and outside providers
  • Attend faculty and department meetings as directed
  • All other duties as assigned by the Principal, Designee, and/or Director of Student Services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Moderate Disabilities, K-8
  • Working knowledge of evaluation and IEP development
  • CPI training preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Additional benefits as outlined in the North Reading Education Association contract. Salary and paid time off will be prorated to start date. Salary listed in job posting is for full year workin 2025-2026 based on on contract.
