Team Leader Early Education and Care Services (Bachelor Qualified)

Remuneration: Salary determined by the EEEA 2020, with in charge allowance

Location: Werribee based. This role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality

About the Role

As Team Leader Education and Care Services, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the kindergarten service and a team of educators by providing leadership and pedagogical support and guidance in line with family-centered practice.

Reporting to the Area Leader Early Education and Care Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of planning and developing high quality programs for the service, while creating a team culture operating with a focus on continuous improvement. In addition to this, you will be required to participate in time spent in an educational capacity.

You will be the face of the service as you engage with Council's diverse community on different levels including building relationships with families, staff groups and the community. Engagement will be focussed on ensuring positive family and community participation in line with Council's integrated service approach.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this role you must have the following qualification and registration;

  • Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or other relevant approved ACECQA qualification.
  • Valid Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Leading and supervising educators and volunteers at Wyndham's kindergarten service.
  • Proving guidance and support to parents and staff members through a diverse range of complex situations.
  • Management of reporting and financial operation of the service reporting to senior leaders as regularly scheduled.
  • Delivering insights and providing best practice knowledge around current trends in early years education, implementing this in line with the unit goals.
  • Actively contributing to the success of Early Education and Care Services and the Community Life Directorate through teamwork and effective performance of the position responsibilities and duties.
What You Will Bring
  • Mandatory Qualifications to practice as an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) in Victoria, as outlined in the Position Description:
  • Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or other relevant approved ACECQA qualification.
  • Valid Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
  • Experience in influence and providing direction to educators at the service, linking your problem solving, mentoring and confident decision-making skills.
  • Extensive experience working in early years education, understanding the range of regulations and policies the service is governed by.
  • Exceptional prioritisation and time management skills, to effectively navigate the duties of this busy role.
  • Strong understanding of the variety of local, state and Commonwealth guidelines and regulations, and the ability to ensure compliance in line with council policies.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate (including CPR) and related certifications as outlined in the position description.

In addition to the above qualifications:

  • Experience in influence and providing direction to educators at the service, linking your problem solving, mentoring and confident decision-making skills.
  • Extensive experience working in early years education, understanding the range of regulations and policies the service is governed by.
  • Exceptional prioritisation and time management skills, to effectively navigate the duties of this busy role.
  • Strong understanding of the variety of local, state and Commonwealth guidelines and regulations, and the ability to ensure compliance in line with council policies.
