Technical Assistant to Fashion Designer

Join the United Apparel Group/Vertigo USA team as a Designer Assistant with strong technical experience in Sweaters and Suiting Construction.

We are seeking a talented individual, with a minimum of 5 years experience, to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of our cutting-edge fashion collections.

As a Designer Assistant, you will be an integral part of the design process, collaborating closely with our design director. Your technical expertise will be crucial in translating design concepts into detailed technical sketches and specifications. You will also assist in creating and managing technical design documentation, including tech packs and sample specifications.

Key responsibilities:

- Collaborate with design director to transform initial sketches and ideas into precise technical sketches and specifications.

- Create and update detailed tech packs, including design sketches, measurement charts, and construction details.

- Assist in fitting sessions and provide feedback on garment construction, fit, and overall quality.

- Manage and organize design files, fabric swatches, and sample inventory.

- Great overseas communications needed to provide the best feedback to our factories.

- Have experience in sweaters and suit construction background.

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a Designer Assistant with a specific focus on technical design.

- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant design software.

- Strong knowledge of sweater development, garment construction, sewing techniques, and pattern making.

- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.

- Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
