The Subway has been modernised twice in its history with the previous modernisation taking place in the late 1970s. We are currently undertaking a £288m transformational project which will result in the Subway being one of the most advanced systems in Europe. In 2018 at InnoTrans, Stadler (part of our joint venture delivery contractor ANSTA) unveiled the first new Subway train. With the new fleet now operational and with the modernisation progressing to the latter stages this is your opportunity to be part of the future of Subway, helping us to deliver the first full Unattended Train Operation (UTO) system in the UK.
About the Role
SPT is now seeking to recruit a Technical Craftsperson - Line. You will carry out diagnostics repairs, and planned maintenance across a range of electrical equipment including power and automated signalling / control systems to support the on-going delivery of the Subway maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity to play an important role in the efficient running of the Subway whilst developing and broadening your own technical skills and experience in line with our ongoing modernisation activity and introduction of new assets.
About You
You will have experience as a time served technician in either a recognised electrical or multiskilled engineering discipline supported by first-hand experience, preferably in an automated maintenance environment, where fault finding is critical. Safety is our priority and so experience of working in a safety critical environment is essential. Experience in main line signalling is desirable but more important will be a positive collaborative attitude and your experience of working flexibly in a multi-disciplinary team.
Good communication skills are essential to maintain accurate data on our asset management system which is a key component in driving reliability.
This is a safety critical role working across all areas of the Subway system and assisting at engineering incidents as required within areas of competence.
Please note, this position falls into the high-risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random and for-cause testing procedures.
Further details of the role are included in the job description.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working 38 hours per week on average on a 5-week rotating shift pattern that includes some weekend working. You will be based at our Broomloan Depot in Govan, Glasgow.
As part of the recruitment process you will undertake aptitude testing.
