Technical Engineer

This role is positioned within the Technical Operations team and reports directly to the Senior Technical Services Manager. The primary purpose of the role is to deliver comprehensive technical and operational support across day-to-day business activities, including commissioning, fault diagnosis, surveying, and the provision of technical expertise to both internal stakeholders and external clients.

The role carries direct responsibility for the technical implementation, integration, and commissioning of all projects and services delivered by the t-mac business, ensuring successful execution in line with operational and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide commissioning of t-mac systems at customer sites.

· Conduct comprehensive site surveys with high precision of detail allowing estimates and quotes to be effectively prepared from recorded detail.

· Trouble shoot and resolve on site technical issues.

· Review and amend t-mac software to implement operational changes.

· Provide technical support to internal and external customers demonstrating a high level of product understanding.

· T-mac Beta testing supporting developer software updates are deployment ready

· Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for themselves and others, at office or site locations. Operating to site requirements, Project Method statements and risk assessments, SE Health & Safety system.

· Pre-commission control systems, field devices and main plant items (motors, inverters etc). Commission controllers, networks and field devices into a complete system.

· Write and commission controller software through to the Graphical user interface; Configure and commission graphics.

· Document commissioning progress, site reports and assist with O & M manuals. Handover and demonstrate the completed system to customer/ consultant.

· Aid supervision of the installation and liaison with contractors.

· Ensure applicable local and industry codes and standards are implemented in our daily activities.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

· Electrical Qualifications/Experience.

· Clear understanding of HVAC equipment

· BEMS experience and/or Qualifications.

· Metering understanding (Gas, Electrical & Water)

· Computer Literacy in MS Office and IP configuration.

· Excellent people/communication skills.

Desirable

· M-Bus, Modbus, MQTT, BACNET experience.

· Node-Red Experience.

· ECS or CSCS Card

Experience

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commissioning role at a comparable level, ideally within a technology-led organisation operating in sectors such as Controls, Building Management Systems (BMS), or Lighting Control Systems.

· Proven engineering expertise within the sector, with demonstrable experience delivering projects of a similar scope and complexity.

· Strong working knowledge of open-protocol communication networks, including Modbus, BACnet, LONWorks, KNX, and related systems.

· Relevant certification and hands-on experience in the installation and commissioning of at least one major control system platform, such as Tridium, Trend, Cylon, Siemens, Philips, or Schneider Electric systems.
