Technical Lead

About the Role

We are building a high-impact, mobile-first digital product and are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead who can own the product engineering end-to-end. You will architect the system, write core modules, scale backend services, and guide a lean engineering team as we move from MVP to scale.

This role works directly with the founding team and offers autonomy to define the technical roadmap, choose tools, and influence product direction from Day 1.

Tech Stack

• Mobile: Flutter
• Backend: Node.js (Express / NestJS or equivalent)
• Database: MongoDB
• Cache / Messaging: Redis
• Infrastructure: AWS / GCP / Azure

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and deployment of the core mobile and backend platforms.
• Architect scalable systems and define long-term technical direction.
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code.
• Build and mentor a small engineering team across Flutter and Node.js.
• Define workflows for CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and deployment automation.
• Collaborate directly with product/design to translate user needs into reliable technical solutions.
• Ensure reliability, security, and performance across services and infrastructure.

Required Skills

• 5–8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and REST API design.
• Experience developing or leading Flutter-based app development.
• Strong understanding of MongoDB schema design, indexing, and scaling techniques.
• Experience using Redis for caching, pub/sub, or queueing.
• Solid grasp of system design, distributed systems, and cloud deployment.
• Prior experience mentoring or leading developers.

Domain Experience

Candidate must have strong experience in at least 3 of the following domains:

• Consumer-facing Mobile App Development (high user volume usage, not just enterprise tools)
• Real-time Systems (feeds, messaging, notifications, live content streams, event-driven platforms)
• Community / Social / Marketplace / Gaming Platforms (user engagement, profile systems, gamification, activity models)

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to microservices or event-driven architecture.
• Experience instrumenting analytics, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Interest in digital communities, interactive platforms, or gamification (bonus).
