As part of its continued growth, the organisation is building out a cutting-edge data platform within its Digital & Technology function, leveraging Azure and Databricks to empower teams across the business to develop, deploy, and manage data products efficiently and securely.
The Role
The organisation is seeking a highly experienced
Technical Lead - Azure DevOps & Infrastructure.
This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps processes, with a strong focus on
Azure Databricks environments
.
The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for DevOps and infrastructure, working closely with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate architectural vision into practical, scalable solutions.

Design, build, and evolve CI/CD pipelines and Azure-based data platform environments

Lead infrastructure automation using Infrastructure-as-Code (

Oversee and optimise Azure services, including
Databricks
and related components (Data Factory, Data Lake, etc.)

Translate architectural guidelines into actionable implementation plans

Ensure platform reliability, security, performance, and cost optimisation

Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders

Support platform operations, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives
People Leadership & Collaboration

Partner with Product Managers to prioritise and deliver backlog items

Provide technical direction and ownership for the DevOps & Infrastructure team
-
Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices
-
Support onboarding, team development, and capability growth
-
Set objectives, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews

Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture
Required Skills & Experience
-
6+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or software engineering
-
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services
-
Proven production experience with Azure Databricks and data platform environments
-
Deep expertise in Terraform and Git
-
Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (YAML-based systems)
-
Solid understanding of Azure networking and secure connectivity (VNets, subnets, private endpoints)

Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)

Strong knowledge of DevOps, DevSecOps, and cloud architecture principles

Experience leading technical teams and managing engineers

Strong stakeholder management, communication, and mentoring skills
Nice to Have

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, or similar services

Familiarity with monitoring/security tools (e.g. Dynatrace, SonarCloud, AquaSecurity)

Azure or Databricks certifications

Experience working in SAFe / Agile environments

Familiarity with Azure DevOps for backlog and delivery management

Experience with enterprise ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow)
