Technical Lead – Network Data Collection & Script Execution

The Technical Lead will be responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and validating data collection activities across devices within the client’s network environment. The role requires strong hands-on technical capability to run approved data collection scripts across servers, workstations, domain-connected devices, Oracle/database servers, and relevant infrastructure components.

The resource shall ensure that all prerequisite technical conditions are met, including network port accessibility, script whitelisting, permissions, remote execution capability, shared folder access, and security exclusions. The role is critical to ensuring that data is collected accurately from target devices and consolidated successfully back to the central execution machine or designated shared output location.

Technical Skills

Windows and Server Administration

The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in:

  • Windows Server administration.
  • Windows endpoint administration.
  • Domain-joined machine management.
  • Local and remote service validation.
  • Windows Firewall configuration awareness.
  • Event Viewer log analysis.
  • Remote Registry, WMI, and Windows service troubleshooting.

Active Directory and Domain Services

The candidate should have working knowledge of:

  • ActiveDirectory users, groups, computers, OUs, and domain controllers.
  • Domain authentication mechanisms.
  • Kerberos, LDAP, DNS, and SYSVOL.
  • Group Policy impact on script execution and firewall rules.
  • Domain admin/local admin privilege requirements.
  • Service account usage in domain environments.

C. PowerShell and Scripting

The candidate should be proficient in:

  • PowerShell command execution.
  • PowerShell remoting.
  • Batch scripting.
  • Command-line troubleshooting.
  • Running .bat, .cmd, .vbs, and .ps1 scripts.
  • Using cscript.exe, wscript.exe, cmd.exe, and PowerShell.
  • Reading script logs and identifying execution failures.
  • Creating small test scripts to validate execution readiness.

Remote Execution and Inventory Collection

The candidate should understand and be able to use:

  • WMI-based remote inventory collection.
  • CIM queries.
  • RPC-based remote communication.
  • SMB-based file transfer and output consolidation.
  • PsExec or similar approved remote execution tools.
  • Enterprise software deployment tools, where available.

Network Connectivity and Port Testing

The candidate should be skilled in:

  • Testing TCP and UDP connectivity.
  • Validating source-to-destination firewall rules.
  • Understanding subnet ranges and IP addressing.
  • Using tools such as:
  • Test-NetConnection
  • ping
  • nslookup
  • tracert
  • Telnet
  • PortQry
  • Nmap, if approved
  • Testing ports such as:
  • TCP 135
  • TCP 445
  • TCP/UDP 53
  • TCP/UDP 88
  • TCP/UDP 389
  • TCP 636
  • TCP 1521 or custom Oracle listener ports
  • Dynamic RPC port ranges

Antivirus, EDR, and Security Controls

The candidate should have practical awareness of:

  • Antivirus exclusions.
  • Endpoint Detection and Response tools.
  • Application control restrictions.
  • Script blocking policies.
  • Controlled folder access.
  • File/folder/process whitelisting.
  • Child process restrictions.
  • Security event log review.
  • Coordination with endpoint security teams.

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Microsoft Defender / Defender for Endpoint
  • CrowdStrike
  • McAfee
  • Symantec
  • Sophos
  • Trend Micro
  • SentinelOne
  • ManageEngine
  • SCCM / Microsoft Configuration Manager

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Windows infrastructure, systems administration, endpoint administration, or network support.
  • Experience in enterprise/domain-based IT environments.
  • Experience running scripts or tools across multiple servers/endpoints.
  • Experience with Active Directory, WMI, SMB, PowerShell, and remote troubleshooting.
  • Experience coordinating with network, security, infrastructure, and database teams.
  • Experience preparing technical status reports or collection trackers.
  • Prior experience in software asset management, IT asset discovery, compliance audits, infrastructure assessment, or data collection projects is preferred.
