Job Purpose
To lead the technical office functions, ensuring that all civil engineering designs, shop drawings, and quantity surveys are executed according to project specifications, international codes for water-retaining structures, and contractual timelines.
Key Responsibilities1. Technical Documentation & Shop Drawings
- Prepare and review detailed Civil Shop Drawings, including reinforced concrete details for water-retaining structures (reservoirs, sedimentation tanks, aeration tanks).
- Ensure precise detailing of Water Stops, construction joints, and expansion joints to prevent leakage.
2. Multi-Disciplinary Coordination (Civil/MEP)
- Perform comprehensive Composite Drawing reviews to resolve conflicts between civil works and electromechanical equipment (pumps, mixers, scrapers).
3. Quantity Surveying & Cost Control
- Prepare and verify Monthly Interim Payments (Invoices) for the client and subcontractors based on actual site progress.
- Conduct accurate Quantity Take-offs from tender vs. construction drawings to identify any variations in material consumption.
4. Procurement & Submittals
- Manage the Material Submittal process, ensuring all civil materials (high-strength concrete, additives, waterproofing, pipes) meet project specifications and consultant approval.
- Evaluate technical and financial bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with the project budget.
5. Contractual Support & Claims
- Identify and document Variation Orders (VOs) resulting from design changes or unforeseen site conditions.
- Assist in preparing Technical Queries (RFIs) and provide engineering solutions to site-related obstacles.
- Monitor the project schedule in coordination with the Planning Department to mitigate potential delays.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Software Proficiency: Expert in AutoCAD, Excel, and Civil 3D. Knowledge of Revit (BIM) is highly preferred for 3D coordination.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Code of Practice for Water-Retaining Structures and hydraulic requirements.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, high attention to detail, and excellent negotiation skills with consultants and subcontractors.
- Language: fluency in technical English (writing and speaking).
