Job purpose

The Technical Services and Research Librarian oversees the firm’s technical and circulation services and delivers reference and in-depth research services to the firm’s attorneys and staff. The incumbent is responsible for the day to day interactions with publishers and vendors, overseeing the firm’s library collection and integrated library system (i.e., catalog), coordinating the work of contract file clerks, and assisting with contract and subscription renewals. In addition, the Technical Services and Research Librarian assists with the administration and management of the firm’s electronic content platforms and assists with budgeting and resource assessment.

Duties and responsibilities

· Responsible for managing the firm’s print and electronic library resources, including collection development, circulation, and original and copy-cataloging of material

· Maintains and oversees support for the Firm’s integrated library system while assisting with the library’s intranet pages

· Coordinates filing work of the contract filing clerks

· Records and maintains Firm electronic resources licenses and oversees access

· Provides analysis and reports to stakeholders for resource utilization and evaluation

· Reviews, processes, and codes invoices for budgeting purposes

· Coordinates inter-library loans and document delivery

· Assists library director with annual budget process

· Assists library director with contract and subscription renewals

· Assists library director with new hire orientations and attorney and staff instruction

· Assists Firm with implementation and rollout of new resources

· Liaisons with IT and other Firm departments for resource implementation and system maintenance

· Assists attorneys and staff with current awareness, reference, and in-depth research services

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in library science or related field required

· 5-7 years of legal library experience strongly preferred

· Expertise using automated library catalog systems (Softlink Liberty preferred)

· Knowledge of bibliographic classifications systems, specifically Library of Congress

· Familiarity with MARC and other computerized library records formats

· Knowledge of resource utilization tracking products, preferably Onelog

· SharePoint and/or Handshake Software experience preferred

· Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of print and electronic legal content platforms such as Lexis, Westlaw, Intelligize, VitalLaw, and PLI Plus

· Strong organizational and oral communication skills

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
