Technical Support Engineer

Job Summary:

The Technical Support Engineer (Nonwoven Geotextile) is responsible for providing technical expertise, process support, and quality assurance within the geotextile production facility. The role ensures smooth manufacturing operations, product quality consistency, and continuous improvement in production processes related to nonwoven geotextile materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site technical support to production teams for nonwoven geotextile manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and optimize process parameters (temperature, speed, tension, bonding pressure, etc.) to ensure product consistency and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or process issues related to fiber feeding, carding, needlepunching, thermobonding, or finishing operations.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Quality teams to implement new product trials and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure raw materials (fibers, additives, etc.) meet required specifications and are used efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of geotextile products (GSM, tensile strength, elongation, permeability, etc.) according to industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
  • Support preventive maintenance and calibration schedules for production equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production operators and technicians.
  • Prepare process documentation, production reports, and technical data sheets as required.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and clients for technical clarifications and product performance feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.).

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Textile Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in nonwoven or geotextile production (preferably needlepunch, spunbond, or thermobond lines).
  • Strong knowledge of fiber processing, web formation, and bonding technologies.
  • Familiarity with geotextile standards and testing methods.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using production monitoring and testing equipment.
  • Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and handle multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with geosynthetics used in civil and environmental engineering applications.
  • Knowledge of process automation or PLC-based machinery.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
  • Exposure to quality tools such as SPC, 5S, or Six Sigma.

Work Environment:

  • Based at the production site; frequent interaction with production, maintenance, and quality teams.
  • May require shift work and occasional extended hours during product trials or machine maintenance.
