Technical Support Team Lead

Job Summary
Provide leadership, coordination, and technical support to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and facility assets. This position is responsible for directing daily team activities, prioritizing resources, developing team members, and driving continuous improvement efforts in support of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives. The Technical Support Lead will lead by example, performing hands-on technical work as needed while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and asset stewardship.

Personnel Supervised (If Applicable):

The Team Lead will provide guidance, assistance, and training to the team members. The Team Lead will participate in discipline issues needing immediate attention.

Education/Experience:

Minimum: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Electromechanical systems, Engineering or related field.

Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of direct experience in leading Maintenance and or Production support in a manufacturing environment.

Supporting and troubleshooting automated equipment and control systems desired.

Plastics injection molding experience is desired.

ISO 13485 or experience in an FDA-regulated environment is desired.

ISO 14001 experience is desired.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Skill to facilitate, lead, coordinate and direct the activities of multiple people.
  • High level knowledge of the general functionality of our processes and equipment.
  • Skill to transfer knowledge and train team members.
  • Skill to provide feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Knowledge to collect, analyze, and report safety, quality, and overall efficiency issues.
  • Knowledge in Managing equipment downtime and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Skill to lead root cause investigations of down or problem equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Scheduling and preparing team activities.
  • Review, prioritize, and manage maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion and alignment with business priorities.
  • Monitor backlog and ensure work orders are properly documented and closed.
  • Manage employees’ time and attendance (i.e. timecard approval, absenteeism, PTO requests, etc.)
  • Prepare performance reviews, obtain supervisor buy-in, then present to employee.
  • Participate in discipline issues (i.e. poor attendance, sending suspect individuals for drug testing, etc.)
  • Identify problems (i.e. Gemba Walks) and use our problem-solving methodologies to solve processes.
  • Make decisions to minimize downtime (i.e. prioritize technician work schedules, escalate, or move work to match priority).
  • Ensure daily activities are being performed, including checking in with work performed to ensure repairs are to the standard.
  • Work with other shifts for coverage as it relates to vacations or training.
  • Communicates to team members and production (daily management board, shift changeover meetings, etc.).
  • Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment keeping work areas free of clutter.
  • Recommended to be First Responder trained and certified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move materials that weigh up to fifty pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Individuals must be able to perform these requirements satisfactorily.
