About the Role

We are seeking a Java Technical Team Lead with solid hands-on development experience and leadership capabilities, ideally coming from the Fintech / Forex Trading domain.The ideal candidate has 7+ years of backend engineering experience , including Java, microservices architecture, API development , and exposure to Vaadin Framework , Kotlin , and iOS Swift at a conceptual/high level.

1+ year experience with people management with leadership responsibilities.You will lead a team responsible for building and enhancing trading platform integrations , liquidity management systems, price feeds, risk engines, and execution services.

This role will require strong technical oversight and ownership,

cross-team collaboration with Product, QA, DevOps and Mobile teams.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of backend Java developers.
• Conduct code reviews, technical design sessions, and enforce engineering standards.
• Support onboarding, knowledge sharing, and technical decision-making and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to scope requirements and delivery timelines.

2. Backend Architecture & Development

• Design, develop, and maintain microservices with Java (Java 17+ preferred).
• Develop REST APIs, event-driven services, and backend modules for trading workflows.
• Apply modern architecture practices: domain-driven design, CQRS, event sourcing (where relevant).
• Experience with Vaadin framework for internal UI/console development.
• Knowledge of Kotlin , able to understand and contribute to mixed Java–Kotlin environments.
• Familiarity with iOS Swift concepts (API integration level).

4. System Performance & Reliability

• Build low-latency, high-availability backend components.
• Optimize performance through NIO/Netty, concurrency tuning, and GC optimization.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and ensure system reliability.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with DevOps for cloud deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD, and environment management.
• Work with QA automation teams to support load testing and integration tests.
• Coordinate with mobile teams to ensure backend services meet app requirements.

6. Delivery & Project Ownership

• Drive sprint planning, task breakdown, and technical documentation.
• Maintain clear communication with Product team and ensure timely releases.
• Prioritize tasks and lead the team towards achieving delivery milestones.

Preferable Skills (Bonus)

• Experience with price feed aggregation engines.
• Knowledge of FIX Market Data.
• Understanding of mobile trading app architecture (Swift/Kotlin native).
• Exposure to financial regulations (FSA , DFSA, CySEC, FCA, ASIC, etc).
• Experience with monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, EL)
