Network & Security Engineer
Location: Ittehad Lane 1, Phase 6, DHA, Karachi.
Timing: Monday - Friday (4am - 12: 30 Pm)
Some overtime may be required (after hours/ weekends) - overtime will be compensated.
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to join our Managed Services Practice, supporting the design, implementation, optimization and operational support of enterprise network and security environments.
This is a practical Level 2/3 engineering role suited to someone with strong all-round capability across routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, SD-WAN, VPN, monitoring and technical change delivery. The role will also provide day-to-day technical leadership within the Voice, Data and Networks team.
The successful candidate will have experience supporting large-scale project delivery, translating technical requirements into practical and well-documented solutions, and maintaining reliable day-to-day network and security operations. You will also mentor technicians, support team capability development and help coordinate technical priorities to ensure strong service delivery and customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, troubleshoot and maintain network hardware and associated network and security infrastructure.
- Deliver network and security components of large-scale projects, including implementation planning, configuration, testing, documentation and operational handover.
- Design, configure and troubleshoot VPN, SD-WAN and remote access technologies.
- Configure, support and optimise QoS, MPLS, NetScaler or other WAN optimisation and load-balancing technologies.
- Monitor and maintain network performance, availability and service quality across client environments.
- Use network management and monitoring tools to analyse performance, identify issues and support proactive remediation.
- Implement and oversee technical changes, including planning, risk assessment, testing, communication and rollback procedures.
- Identify configuration improvement opportunities and optimise network and security platforms in line with industry best practice.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, solution designs, implementation plans, standards, diagrams and support procedures.
- Recommend, maintain and enforce network and security standards, operational processes and best practices.
- Provide escalation support for complex incidents and work collaboratively with internal teams, vendors and customer stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance, quality oversight and escalation support to the Voice, Data and Networks team.
- Mentor and develop technicians through coaching, knowledge sharing, performance feedback and technical capability uplift.
- Coordinate team priorities to ensure incidents, service requests, project tasks and customer commitments are delivered in line with agreed service levels and business expectations.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Advanced knowledge of switching and routing technologies, including Cisco, Juniper and Ubiquiti environments.
- Advanced knowledge of firewall technologies, including FortiGate, Cisco, Meraki, Juniper and Barracuda platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of wireless technologies, including Meraki, Aruba and Ubiquiti.
- Strong experience with VPN, SD-WAN and remote access design, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with QoS, MPLS, NetScaler configuration or other WAN optimisation / load-balancing technologies.
- Familiarity with network management, monitoring and performance analysis tools.
- Experience with centralised device management and security platforms, including FortiManager, FortiCloud, FortiAnalyzer and Cisco Security / ASA.
- Strong understanding of security threats, exploitation methods, discovery techniques and prevention controls.
- Ability to assess, harden and optimise configurations against industry best practices and operational standards.
- Strong Level 2/3 troubleshooting capability across network, wireless, firewall, WAN and remote access technologies.
- Proven ability to implement and manage technical change in production environments.
- Experience contributing to or leading network/security workstreams within large-scale project delivery environments.
- Ability to balance project delivery, operational support and customer-facing communication.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical and operational documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support technicians, fostering collaboration, technical capability and consistent service delivery.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a network, security or infrastructure engineering role.
- Experience working in managed services, outsourced IT, or customer-facing technical delivery environments is highly desirable.
- Experience across mixed vendor environments will be highly regarded.
Certifications
Relevant certifications are highly regarded. Candidates may hold, or be working towards, certifications such as:
- CCNA, CCNP or CCNP Security.
- Fortinet certifications covering FortiManager, FortiCloud, FortiAnalyzer or FortiGate administration.
- Sophos certifications or equivalent firewall/security platform accreditation.
- Juniper JNCIA-Junos or equivalent Juniper certification.
- Any relevant vendor certification aligned to routing, switching, wireless, firewall, SD-WAN, security or cloud-managed networking.
Desirable Experience
- Load balancing technologies and design patterns.
- Voice / SIP knowledge.
- Unified Communications environments.
- Experience working across managed services and customer-facing delivery models.

Our Managed Services Practice delivers end-to-end outsourced IT management solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Core services include Help Desk support, Network Monitoring and Management, Server and Desktop Management, Voice and Data services, Cyber Security and ongoing Infrastructure Maintenance.
The Support Team provides multi-tiered technical support, ensuring timely and effective resolution of client issues. Performance is measured against defined KPIs aligned with strategic objectives, client satisfaction and contractual obligations.
Role Positioning
This role is positioned as a hands-on Level 2/3 Network & Security Engineer rather than a senior architecture-only role. It requires strong technical depth, practical delivery experience and the ability to support both project implementation and operational escalation activities.
