Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers' Coalition (AOMC) is a mission-driven organization focused on creating manufacturer-led solutions in partnership with education, workforce, and economic development. Our goal is to motivate and prepare youth and incumbent workers through skills, training, and credentials to enter and advance in manufacturing careers while fostering economic growth in Southeast Ohio.

Position Summary

The Technical Trainer is a vital, hands-on leader who interacts with manufacturing partners and other customers to provide technical training and upskilling to industry employees. This role requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about workforce development, dedicated to building tomorrow's workforce, and committed to advancing the region’s industrial capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Training Development

  • Develops Training: Creates comprehensive technical training programs and designs customized instruction to meet evolving industry demands.
  • Trainee Instruction: Instructs youth, career changers, and incumbent workers on a day-to-day basis within AOMC’s training programs.
  • Inclusive Mentorship: Works closely and supportively with second-chance individuals enrolled in the Made in Appalachia program, fostering a positive and empowering learning environment.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluates trainee performance and maintains accurate attendance and test records while ensuring a disciplined, productive atmosphere in the classroom and hands-on lab.

Industry & Community Engagement

  • K-12 Engagement: Actively engages with K-12 schools to build a pipeline for youth to explore and enter the manufacturing field.
  • Industry Support: Interacts directly with local industry to maintain standards, ensure partner satisfaction, and assist the industrial sector with advanced metalworking and composite techniques.
  • Relationship Building: Engages in day-to-day interaction with local and regional customers, communicating with all AOMC sites on a regular basis.
  • Recruiting & Outreach: Travels to regional education and workforce partners to:
  • Conduct on-site training programs.
  • Advise on AOMC service offerings.
  • Perform active recruiting activities.

Facility Operations, Workflow & Intern Collaboration

  • Equipment Operations: Operates and instructs on equipment within the Manufacturing Support Center.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Performs preventive maintenance on shop equipment. Coordinates and handles any necessary equipment repairs under the guidance of the Technical Training Manager.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies.
  • Compiles needs onto a purchasing form for administrative approval and purchase.
  • Intern Collaboration: Works closely with AOMC manufacturing interns to foster their development and maintain an efficient facility workflow.
  • Smoothly hands off appropriate support tasks, maintenance duties, and projects to the intern lead.
  • Provides clear guidance and mentorship to interns as they assist with daily shop operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintains a clean, organized facility, ensuring all safety procedures and confidentialities are strictly followed.

Professional Development & General Expectations

  • Leads the development and implementation of procedures to ensure the latest technologies are available to clients.
  • Maintains familiarity with new and developing manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Actively participates in professional development, setting goals for continuous improvement.
  • Maintains or attains appropriate certifications, licensures, and credentials.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, provides quality customer service, and makes reasoned decisions.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred but not required.
  • A combination of education, certification, and relevant years of experience may be substituted for a degree.

Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of three years of industrial work experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience or familiarity in any or all of the following fields is preferred:
  • CAM and CAD software
  • PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
  • Robotics and automation
  • Machining
  • Welding
  • Mechanical Systems
  • Control Systems
  • Software integration
  • Circuit design and electronic troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in the application of machine shop theory, shop mathematics, blueprint reading, safety, and equipment setup.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills combined with a collaborative, team-player attitude.
  • High self-initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Capable of assessing and analyzing technical data.

  • Ability to Relocate: Marietta, OH 45750: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
