Summary:
Kelley Drye, a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Technical Trainer to work with the User Education team to develop and implement firm-wide new hire orientation and technology implementations. This individual will collaborate with the firm’s practice groups and other internal teams to design, develop and execute strategic initiatives that support employee development. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work effectively with users of all skill levels and foster growth through technology. This role is essential in driving change, supporting user adoption, and delivering engaging training experiences across the firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in instructional design, digital content creation, and technology onboarding including how to best use our Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. This exempt role would reside in our Washington DC office.
Responsibilities/Essential Function:

Serve as the point person for coordinating and ensuring the continuation of ongoing effective new hire technology orientation sessions that are consistent across all offices, and all related training for new staff and attorneys.

Champion the adoption of new technologies through engaging and practical training experiences. Effectively communicate the value of tools and workflows to increase user engagement and buy-in.

Educate and guide users to support firm-wide adoption of AI tools by delivering training, resources, and guidance that help users integrate new technology into daily workflows.

Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs covering firm systems, including desktop applications, financial tools (e.g., time entry, prebill editing, expense management, and vendor invoicing), telephone systems, and practice group-specific technologies, tools, and workflows tailored to each group's unique needs.

Provide legal document support to various practice and administrative departments.

Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; plan, schedule, gather resources, and evaluate technology training.

Create and prepare training and/or reference materials such as quick reference guides, training manuals, tip sheets, online tutorials, and other e-learning videos and materials.

Collaborate with department leaders and practice group heads to assess training requirements. Design, deliver, and evaluate customized learning solutions to meet those needs effectively.

In partnership with IT, troubleshoot issues related to software applications and workflows for attorneys and business professionals.

Update and maintain the firm’s electronic training resources (e.g., videos, guides).

Provide or offer on-demand, remote/virtual, or in-person desk-side training and support as needed.

Gathers feedback to make recommendations to increase training efficiency and effectiveness.

Perform additional duties and tasks assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to supporting the firm’s overall objectives.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree with 3 to 5 years of applicable work experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to deadlines required.

Strong verbal and written communications skills with critical attention to detail.

Must have the ability to assess learning needs, identify gaps, and deliver responsive, effective training solutions.

High energy and enthusiasm for driving change and user engagement required.

Strong knowledge of Windows OS required; in-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. Hands-on experience with NetDocuments, Litera Create and NTD highly desired. Knowledge of time entry programs such as iTimekeep a plus. Basic understanding of MAC OS and iPhone a plus.

Knowledge of AI concepts, tools, generative AI applications, or other rapidly changing technologies.

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other online collaboration tools to facilitate training. Skilled in e-learning authoring software such as Camtasia a plus.

Basic understanding of International Practice and APO requirements is a significant plus.

Ability to travel and provide training/support to all of the firm’s offices as necessary.
The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in Washington DC if selected for this role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. Washington DC Salary Rate: Low $120,000 High: $137,000
