TYPSA is currently seeking resumes from qualified Technical Writers to join our Cultural Resources team. This role will support projects and staff in our Tuscon and Phoenix offices.


Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to prepare technical documents. Below is a list of duties for this position:

Duties:

  • Understand project-specific client/agency guidelines and standards for fieldwork and reporting
  • Oversee research and report writing
  • Serve as primary or support author on reports, research designs, treatment plans, and other technical documents
  • Assist with completion of technical reports, work plans, and other technical documents, as needed
  • Perform editorial and technical reviews of draft technical documents for content, organization, clarity, consistency, grammar, and conformity with the applicable style guide(s)
  • Ensure documents meet Arizona State Historic Preservation Office and Arizona State Museum technical standards
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with state and federal agency staff, tribes, and private sector clients
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and improve procedures as appropriate to assure tasks are completed effectively


Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • PhD or MA/MS in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA)—current or willingness and ability to register once hired
  • Meet Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology
  • 10 years of experience in archaeology and Cultural Resource Management (CRM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a technical writer
  • Ability to conduct archaeological research
  • Experience reviewing, writing and editing complex CRM technical documents
  • Comprehension of archaeological field methods, research domains, and the cultural traditions of the Southwest
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, tribal, state (AZ, CO, NM, NV, and/or UT), and local CRM and historic preservation regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exemplary organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • A high degree of professionalism and competence in project execution and delivery
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
