Job Description – Procurement Manager – Techno commercial

Department: Procurement
Location: Bangalore

Reports To: Operations Director
Industry: Façade Engineering, Aluminium & Glass, Project-Based Engineering

1. Role Purpose

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the entire procurement function, managing a procurement team, and ensuring timely sourcing of raw materials and job-work services required for façade engineering projects. This role focuses on techno-commercial evaluation, vendor development, cost control, and ensuring seamless coordination with Design, Production, Project, and Stores departments.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Team Leadership & Department Management

  • Lead and supervise a team of procurement engineers/officers
  • Allocate responsibilities such as raw material sourcing, job-work, PO creation, vendor follow-up, and documentation.
  • Monitor daily activities and ensure adherence to procurement processes and timelines.
  • Develop the team’s technical and commercial capabilities through regular training.
  • Conduct weekly review meetings and track team performance using KPIs.

B. Raw Material Procurement

  • Manage the procurement of key façade materials such as:
  • Aluminium profiles, glass, ACP, steel, hardware, fasteners, silicone, accessories, gaskets, consumables.
  • Prepare procurement plans based on BOQ, MTO, fabrication drawings, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with Design for specification confirmations and technical clarifications.
  • Track stock levels with Stores and initiate timely reordering to avoid material shortages.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery commitments, and ensure the best techno-commercial value.C. Job-Work Outsourcing Management
  • Manage end-to-end outsourcing for fabrication, welding, machining, powder coating, and façade-related job-work activities.
  • Float enquiries, hold clarification discussions with vendors, and finalize job-work orders.
  • Ensure vendors fully understand technical drawings, tolerances, material specifications, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with Production/Material control Manager for technical queries raised by job-work vendors.
  • Monitor outsourced work progress, quality checks, and delivery against timeline.
  • Maintain tracking logs for outsourced materials and returns.

D. Techno-Commercial Evaluation

  • Analyse supplier quotations for compliance with technical specs, quality, delivery timelines, and cost.
  • Compare alternative materials or technical solutions to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Support Design and Project teams in evaluating system compatibility and final selections.
  • Prepare cost comparison sheets and secure approval for major purchases.

E. Vendor Development & Management

  • Build and maintain a strong vendor base for materials and job-work.
  • Conduct vendor performance reviews and ensure adherence to quality and service standards.
  • Identify new vendors for better pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure subcontractors follow company HSE, QC, and compliance standards.

F. ERP & Procurement Documentation

  • Ensure all procurement activities are recorded in the ERP
  • Maintain complete procurement documentation including RFQs, POs, delivery challans, inspection reports, GRN/MRN, and invoices.
  • Ensure audit readiness and transparency in procurement operations.

G. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with:
  • Design Team for technical specifications, BOQ, MTO, revisions, and clarifications.
  • Production Team for fabrication schedules and job-work progress.
  • Project Team for site delivery plans, sequencing, and urgent project needs.
  • Stores Team for inventory requirements, stock levels, and replenishment.
  • Attend project review meetings and provide procurement status updates.

H. Cost Control & Savings

  • Implement cost-saving strategies through negotiation, alternative sourcing, and material optimization.
  • Monitor price trends in aluminium, steel, glass, and hardware markets.
  • Reduce wastage and unnecessary material consumption through planning.

3. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Civil / Production / Industrial Engineering (preferred) or other Engineering.
  • MBA or Diploma in Supply Chain / Materials Management (added advantage).
  • Strong technical understanding of façade materials and systems is essential.

4. Experience Requirements

  • 8–10+ years in façade engineering procurement (mandatory).
  • Experience in handling both raw material procurement and job-work outsourcing.
  • Experience in leading a small-to-medium procurement team.
  • Strong techno-commercial and negotiation skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹23,451.61 - ₹69,468.42 per month
