Technology Services Technician I

Job Summary:

This position is based at the Interim Central Office and supports participating local school districts through a collaborative service model.

The primary objective of this role is to provide first-level technical support, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of district technology systems and devices.

This position supports students, instruction, and district operations by ensuring instructional and operational technology systems are functional, accessible, and reliable, minimizing disruption to teaching and learning.

Essential Job Functions

  • Receives, documents, and responds to requests in a timely and professional manner. Communicates clearly with staff to diagnose issues and explain solutions.
  • Installs, images, configures, and updates computers, Chromebooks, iPads, printers, and related peripheral equipment in accordance with established standards.
  • Diagnoses and resolves common hardware, software, and basic network connectivity issues using established procedures; escalates complex issues to senior technology staff as appropriate.
  • Assists with asset tagging, inventory tracking, and documentation of repairs, updates, and device assignments to ensure accurate record keeping and accountability.
  • Ensures instructional technology is operational and accessible to support teaching, learning, and district business functions.
  • Works cooperatively with ISD and district personnel; follows established technology, safety, and data security procedures and protocols.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in a technology-related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered.
  • Entry-level or foundational experience in technical support preferred.
  • Experience supporting PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, and iPads preferred.
  • Ability to travel between district building and locations as required.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and common educational technology platforms.
  • Basic understanding of device imaging, software installation, and peripheral setup.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to data privacy, cybersecurity, and district safety procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide customer-focused support.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and respond to multiple service requests.
  • Proficiency using ticketing systems, productivity software, and standard office equipment.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. With or without mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to install and repair computer equipment and peripherals.
  • Visual and auditory ability to troubleshoot equipment and communicate effectively.
  • Work is performed in office, classroom, and server room environments.

Compensation and Details

  • Pay: Hourly $22.07-$25.96 commensurate with experience.
  • Full-time, Full Year
