Job Title: Systems Technician
The Associate Systems Administrator supports the design, maintenance, and security of district technology systems by assisting the Director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure and district technology leadership in managing servers, identity systems, integrations, and advanced infrastructure tasks. This role serves as a bridge between Tier 3 technical operations and districtwide system administration. The Systems Technician ensures stability, performance, and reliability across core systems while providing high-level technical support and participating in cybersecurity, network, and MDM operations.

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, cybersecurity, or related field required; equivalent experience considered.

3+ years experience in IT systems support, networking, or enterprise device management.

Experience with identity management (Azure AD, Google Admin, IAM workflows).

Experience with enterprise management tools such as Mosyle, Jamf, Meraki, Fortinet, or comparable systems.

Strong understanding of macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Windows environments.

Experience with server environments, virtualization, or cloud systems preferred.

Working knowledge of authentication systems, SSO, directory structures, and provisioning workflows.

Familiarity with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation and efficiency.

Understanding of networking fundamentals (switching, routing, VLANs, wireless).

Capacity to learn and grow toward full systems administration responsibilities.

Strong judgment and adherence to security protocols, including least privilege and audit requirements.

Ability to collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and MDM teams.

Clear communication skills that support collaboration with technical and nontechnical staff.

Strong problem-solving, documentation, and project management skills.

Assist with the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of district servers, cloud services, and identity systems.

Support user lifecycle workflows, including onboarding, provisioning, access management, and automated deprovisioning.

Assist in managing districtwide MFA, SSO integrations, and identity federation.

Support backup and recovery processes, ensuring system integrity and compliance.

Assist the cybersecurity team in monitoring alerts, responding to incidents, and maintaining compliance with district policies.

Participate in vulnerability scans, patch cycles, and remediation activities.

Help audit system access, identify privileged account misuse, and ensure least-privilege principles are maintained.

Assist with network device configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting under the direction of the Network Engineer.

Help maintain detailed documentation of systems, architectures, and processes.

Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and emergency response when required.

Serve as Tier 3 escalation for complex issues unresolved at the Technician levels.

Diagnose complex identity, application, and system issues.

Work alongside project teams during large-scale rollouts, migrations, and districtwide initiatives.

Manage district print management systems (e.g., Papercut) including user access, quotas, reporting, security controls, and usage monitoring to ensure responsible print practices and contract compliance.
