Summary:
Installs and maintains communication equipment to offer voice, data, and video services across multiple platforms. Skill sets include but are not limited to legacy copper facilities as well as new fiber plant. This position is a hybrid role crossed between Lineman and Installer. The potential candidate will be trained on both skill sets, with a focus on one. The two disciplines will either be stationed within the territory performing installs and troubles, or on construction works tours out of town.
Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Please note, this position will require work tours out of town, travel is required
- This position does include a weekly 24/7 on call rotation
- Receives work assignments and trouble cases from designated employees or via electronic ticketing system/tablet/phone
- Installing, rearranging, and maintaining inside wiring.
- Rearranging and reconnecting fiber optic wiring at pole, underground or terminals.
- Performing necessary work to connect, disconnect, test, repair and maintain various types of company and customer provided telephones and equipment.
- Performing diagnostic tests on integrated circuit equipment to determine trouble. Interpreting service orders and circuit diagrams.
- Communicating frequently with customers on matters dealing with service, planning, billing, and Company policy.
- Works aloft; climb ladders and poles; enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks.
- May be required to stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Constructs, repairs and maintains outside plant facilities including telephone poles, underground services, conduit and cable/fiber.
- Operates and maintains heavy equipment; lifts and load material and equipment onto company vehicles.
- Assures dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone/internet service.
- Performs preventive and routine maintenance; troubleshoots and identifies plant faults.
- Will be required to work at heights, aloft for long periods of time utilizing an aerial lift, ladders, and wood pole climbing equipment.
- Must regularly lift/move 50-100 pounds, and occasionally lift/move 100+ pounds.
- Splices & Tests Fiber Optic Cable.
- Ability to climb poles using hooks and ladders is required.
- Works outdoors in all weather conditions.
- May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
- Candidate must have and maintain a valid and clean driver's license.
Pay: $19.15 - $25.75 per hour
