We are seeking a collaborative, technically skilled, and safety-focused Telecommunications Engineer to design, implement, and maintain resilient telecommunications systems that support our operations. The successful candidate will partner with cross-functional teams including operations, reliability, safety, and product to translate business and operational requirements into robust network and communications solutions. This role requires hands-on engineering judgment, strong troubleshooting capability, and a pragmatic approach to reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
Design, deploy, and maintain telecommunications infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, radio systems, VoIP, fiber optic, and microwave links to meet operational availability and performance targets.
Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to define requirements, network topologies, and deployment plans for new sites and capacity expansions.
Develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations, and documentation; ensure configuration management and change control practices are followed.
Implement and tune monitoring, alerting, and logging for communications systems to provide observability into performance, capacity, and fault conditions.
Lead incident response and troubleshooting for telecommunications outages or degradations; perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Define and enforce design and security best practices for network segmentation, access control, encryption, and device hardening in coordination with security and compliance stakeholders.
Work with vendors and contractors to evaluate, procure, and integrate third-party telecommunications equipment and services; oversee installation and acceptance testing.
Develop and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and maintenance schedules to ensure safe and reliable operation of communications assets.
Support commissioning, field testing, and performance validation activities at facilities and remote sites; travel to field locations as required.
Contribute to capacity planning, budget forecasting, and lifecycle management for telecommunications assets; identify opportunities to reduce cost and technical debt.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience considered.
3+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating telecommunications or network systems in commercial, industrial, or service-provider environments.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, and subnetting.
Practical experience with wireless technologies (LTE/5G, Wi‑Fi), radio frequency principles, and RF link budgeting.
Experience with VoIP systems, SIP signaling, session border controllers, and SIP trunking preferred.
Familiarity with fiber optic systems, DWDM, SFPs, and optical test equipment (OTDR, power meters).
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex end-to-end communications issues using packet captures, signal measurements, and vendor diagnostics.
Strong written and verbal communication skills: able to produce clear technical documentation, present network designs, and coordinate with field teams and vendors.
Commitment to safety, security, and regulatory compliance when working on communications infrastructure and in field environments.
Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIP, CompTIA Network+, or vendor-specific wireless or VoIP certifications are a plus.
Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code principles for repeatable deployments.
Familiarity with cloud networking services (VPC, transit gateways) and hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute).
Background in industrial communications, SCADA/OT networking, or integration of IT/OT environments is advantageous.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (SNMP, NetFlow, Prometheus, Grafana) and log analysis platforms.
Full-time role within a collaborative, cross-functional engineering and operations organization; onsite, field, or hybrid presence expected depending on project and facility needs.
Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience, including health coverage, retirement plan options, paid time off, and professional development support.
Opportunities for training, certifications, and career progression in an inclusive, safety-first organization committed to operational excellence and sustainability.
We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and foster a respectful work environment that supports work-life balance and employee well-being.
