A Telecommunications Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications systems, including telephone networks, internet connections, and data communication equipment. They ensure reliable connectivity for both residential and commercial clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment such as routers, switches, PBX systems, and fiber optic cables.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in telecommunications systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to implement new communication systems.
- Test network performance and make necessary adjustments.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients or internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- Follow safety procedures and comply with industry standards and regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, IT, or related field.
- Experience with network cabling, fiber optics, and telecommunications hardware.
- Knowledge of telecommunications protocols, networking, and VoIP systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
