Telehealth Technology Director (Hybrid Strategic & Operational Role)

Grant-Funded | Part-Time (Maximum 10 Hours Per Week)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – Onsite & Remote)
Compensation: $65–$75 per hour
Schedule: Up to 10 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Telehealth Technology Director to provide both strategic leadership and operational management of our telehealth infrastructure. This grant-funded role supports expansion of telehealth prevention, mental health, and substance use services within a behavioral health setting.

This position is designed as a fractional leadership role (maximum 10 hours per week) and requires an individual who can operate at both executive and technical levels to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient telehealth systems.

Core ResponsibilitiesStrategic Technology Oversight (Approx. 50%)

  • Develop and maintain a telehealth technology roadmap aligned with organizational growth and grant objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA Security Rule safeguards (administrative, technical, and physical).
  • Conduct or oversee annual security risk assessments.
  • Advise executive leadership on infrastructure, cybersecurity, and sustainability planning.
  • Oversee vendor relationships (EHR, telehealth platforms, cybersecurity services).
  • Provide periodic performance reporting to leadership.

Operational Technology Management (Approx. 50%)

  • Oversee deployment and maintenance of telehealth equipment (laptops, tablets, webcams, kiosks).
  • Manage user access controls and system configuration.
  • Support clinical staff training related to telehealth workflows and documentation.
  • Monitor system uptime and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Maintain technology asset inventory and compliance documentation.
  • Support grant reporting requirements related to technology implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare IT or telehealth systems experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA Security Rule compliance.
  • Experience managing or implementing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong project management and independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently within limited weekly hours while maintaining accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment environments.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid and commercial telehealth billing requirements.
  • Experience working in grant-funded programs.
  • Cybersecurity certification preferred but not required.

Compensation & Terms

  • $65–$75 per hour, commensurate with experience.
  • Maximum of 10 hours per week.
  • Grant-funded position contingent upon continued funding.
  • Flexible scheduling with periodic on-site presence as needed.
