OVERVIEW

The Savings Bank is a strong, stable, and independent community bank headquartered in Wakefield, MA, with eight full-service banking offices. We currently have a full-time opportunity to join our retail banking team, assisting customer with their banking needs. Our Teller position is a great way to learn about bank accounts, transaction processing, ATMs, and mobile banking, while developing your customer service skills. GENERAL SUMMARY

A Teller greets visitors in our branches, and creates an excellent customer experience for those with financial needs. This position participates in daily branch operations and assists with customer transaction processing, reporting, and account maintenance. They provide timely and accurate service, maintain records, and balance on a daily basis.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Greets all lobby customers and provides appropriate assistance in daily transactions. Addresses inquiries and resolves customer issues.
  • Advises customers based on knowledge of the Bank’s consumer, business, and digital products and services.
  • Performs monetary transactions, accepts deposits and payments, cashes checks, and issues various checks.
  • Prepares individual daily balancing of teller transactions.
  • Develops professional relationships with Bank customers.
  • Opens and services new and existing accounts.
  • Participates in Bank’s sales and referral programs.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as federal and state banking laws and regulations.
  • Participates in and completes online and in-person training.
  • Directs customer needs to appropriate divisions and departments.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs additional duties, as assigned by branch management.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ months of experience with customer service, preferably including cash handling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Desire to work collaboratively, as part of a branch team.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, to include most weekdays to 4pm, Thursday or Friday to 6pm, and Saturdays to 12 noon.

WEEKLY BRANCH SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday: 8:15am – 4:15pm

Thursday OR Friday: 8:15am – 6:15pm

Saturday: 8:15am – 12:15pm. (2+ per month, scheduled in advance)


Starting Pay: $19.75/Hr

The hourly rate represents an estimate based on market data for this position. Final compensation decisions are made based on experience, skills, and internal equity to ensure fairness and consistency across our organization.
