Temporary Assistant, Art Lab Facilitator

The Family Programs team in the Department of Learning and Engagement is looking to hire four temporary facilitators to help support The Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Family Art Lab. In Art Lab, kids and adults experiment, play, and create as they make connections between their own creative explorations and the ideas, tools, and techniques of modern and contemporary art. Facilitators may also be asked to support family art making, gallery activations and interactives throughout the Museum during seasonal UNIQLO Family Days.

Experience: Working with children and/or families in an informal learning environment;

front facing hospitality.

Skills: Communicates effectively. Ability to work with the public. Second language helpful.

Qualities: Outgoing, personable, organized, and punctual.

Dates: April 21 - September 13, 2026

Hours: The hours for this role fluctuate and increase at times when children are out of school in July and August. This position requires that candidates be available to work weekdays and weekends. Hours will be 7 - 14 hours/week May, June and September, increasing to 21-28 hours/week in July and August. Note: there might be some weeks where no shifts are assigned.

Pay: $26.75 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate visitor experiences in Art Lab including: greeting visitors and introducing the main ideas of the space; suggesting age-appropriate activities and helping visitors engage with them; connecting what visitors are doing/exploring in the lab with information about artists and artwork in MoMA’s collection; suggesting ways to continue exploration, both in the Museum galleries and outside world.
  • Assist with the daily maintenance of the space, including cleaning and stocking/organizing materials.
  • Work with MoMA Guest Specialists who are responsible for tracking attendance, administering visitor surveys, helping greet visitors, establishing waiting lists and answering Museum-related questions.
  • Facilitate Family Art Making and gallery activations during UNIQLO Family Days.
