Year of Experience: 3-25 years in Civil Engineering Tenders
Required Experience and Skills
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is essential.
- Tendering Experience: Significant experience (often 7-12 years) in the tendering process, including pre-qualification, bid preparation, submission, and post-bid activities within the construction industry.
- Contract Management: Strong understanding and experience with various contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, EPC) and their terms, including liquidity damages, performance guarantees, and payment terms.
- Quantity Surveying & Estimation: Hands-on experience in detailed quantity surveying, BOQ (Bill of Quantities) review, and accurate pricing and estimating.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Experience coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, and building strong relationships.
- Risk Assessment: Ability to identify and mitigate risks and opportunities within proposals.
- Logistics & Site Visits: Experience with site investigation, site visits, preparing logistics plans, and identifying material sources.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting site visits and investigations to gather project information.
- Reviewing tender documents, scope of works, and qualification criteria.
- Floating inquiries, collecting offers, and negotiating with vendors.
- Analyzing and comparing prices, updating costing, and preparing detailed bids.
- Preparing risk matrices and financial feasibility reports.
- Attending pre-bid meetings and providing clarifications.
- Coordinating with internal teams and management for bid approval.
Essential Tools & Soft Skills
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with project planning tools (like Primavera P6), estimation software, and the MS Office Suite.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the commercial aspects of construction projects.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tenders and projects simultaneously.
