Position Summary
Responsible for performing ongoing maintenance and installation tasks including system backup, recovery, installation, and configuration of campus systems and servers. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install, configure and support complex server-based systems.
  • Maintains and configures the operation of complex-server based systems.
  • Recommends and implements security and support policies.
  • Act as a knowledge expert for assigned systems
  • Approves patches for installation on servers and applications
  • Maintains the disaster recovery environment and systems.
  • Installs, configures and maintains Windows, Linux, and Hypervisor servers
  • Configure systems for high availability including strategies for backup, recovery and incident response
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of information technology systems and best practices.
  • Knowledge of system backup and recovery principles.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of server hardware and software support principles.
  • Knowledge of identity management principles and systems.
  • Skills in virtualization technologies.
  • Ability to support large email system, including spam filtering, archiving and troubleshooting.
  • Skills in decision making and problem solving.
  • Ability to learn new skills.
  • Skilled in customer service.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnoses, and correct systems issues.
  • Ability to install, maintain, configure and repair systems.
Work Hours
  • 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.
Physical Demands
  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and utilizes the sense of smell.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.
  • Requires the ability to drive to additional work site occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a computer related field.
  • 6 + years of experience with IT maintenance and technical support required
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
  • Equivalent education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Server hardware, operating systems, and software knowledge.
  • Ability to install, maintain, and document complex systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SAN environments, virtual servers, server monitoring applications, backup and restore processes, disaster recovery planning and implementation
  • Experience with security best practices, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, MDR
  • Experience with managing Virtualized environments, including desktops and servers.
  • Skills in identity management
  • Experience with managing and maintaining Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM/ Intune
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair and variety of computer hardware and software systems
  • Microsoft Certifications
  • Ability to learn new technologies.
  • Skills in Microsoft 365 software and technology
  • Skills in decision making and problem solving.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct systems issues.
