About the Role:

The Terminal Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of transportation within the organization, ensuring efficient and timely movement of goods and services. This position is responsible for managing both local and regional trucking operations, coordinating activities with warehouse management and personnel, and maintaining compliance with transportation regulations to support business objectives. The manager will lead a team of transportation professionals (drivers, dispatch and shop) fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. They will analyze operational data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and service enhancement while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction. The Terminal Manager will provide excellent customer service and be the main contact for R.O. Wetz clients. Ultimately, this role ensures that transportation operations align with strategic goals, contributing to the overall success and growth of the company.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics management, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and related software tools.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a relevant field or professional certification such as Certified Transportation Professional (CTP).
• Experience managing large fleets and multi-modal transportation operations.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management.
• Proven track record of implementing cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor transportation strategies and policies to optimize operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage daily transportation activities including oversite of route planning, fleet management, and the daily schedule to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Supervise and lead transportation R.O. Wetz staff, providing training, performance evaluations, weekly payroll submissions, and fostering a safe work environment.
• Coordinate with internal departments, external vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with transportation laws and standards.
• Responsible for management of assets and availability of business opportunities that minimize operational expenses and maximize equipment utilization.
• Analyze transportation data and metrics to identify trends, resolve issues, and implement process improvements.
• Report analytical data and significant operational information to senior leadership as required.
• Prepare and manage budgets related to transportation operations, controlling expenses while maintaining service quality.
• Respond to and resolve operational challenges, including delays, accidents, or equipment failures, minimizing impact on service delivery.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to transportation activities, compliance, and performance metrics.
• Assist with the marketing of R.O. Wetz Transportation by providing information regarding current and future capacities and targeting key customers via organic sales opportunities.
• Prepare headcount targets and recruitment plans with corporate leadership and human resources to optimize the allocation of personnel. Help with the on-boarding process.
• Assist in the preparation of customer invoices in coordination with the accounting department and aid in the collection process.

Additionally, problem-solving skills are critical for addressing unexpected challenges such as delays or equipment issues, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,717.54 - $69,509.29 per year
