Join our dynamic team as a Texas Remote Urgent Care Locum Tenens Physician, where you will deliver high-quality, efficient medical care to patients in a fast-paced, virtual environment. You will be responsible for providing urgent care assessments, diagnosing common illnesses, managing minor injuries, and guiding patients through appropriate treatment plans—all from the comfort of your environment. Great position for supplementary Locum Tenens practice. Your expertise will help bridge gaps in urgent care access and ensure timely, compassionate care for diverse patient populations.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive virtual patient assessments utilizing telehealth platforms and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic and other EMR software.
  • Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses, minor injuries, and urgent health concerns with clear clinical judgment.
  • Review and interpret medical imaging results, laboratory reports, and other diagnostic data to inform patient care decisions.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans, prescribe medications within scope, and provide patient education on management strategies.
  • Coordinate follow-up care or referrals to specialists in fields such as psychiatry, cardiology, endocrinology, or dermatology as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and documentation standards like CPT coding.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and health coaching advice to promote wellness and recovery.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Medical Physician license to practice medicine in Texas with current board certification or eligibility in family medicine or emergency medicine.
  • Proven experience in urgent care settings or emergency medicine with familiarity in telehealth delivery methods.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms; experience with medical imaging interpretation is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical procedures including suturing, airway management, IV infusion, and basic life support (BLS).
  • Ability to perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs measurement and physical examinations remotely when applicable.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and health coaching; compassionate approach to diverse patient needs.
  • Familiarity with hospital or inpatient care environments, including post-operative and critical care experience is advantageous.
