We are seeking creative and technically skilled Textile and Fashion Designers to work closely with our artisan clusters and design teams. This role involves developing loom-based textile designs, color palettes, and fashion silhouettes that reflect Saffron House’s vision — luxury with soul.
You’ll collaborate directly with weavers, dyers, and design leads to create new collections, reinterpret traditional motifs, and introduce modern techniques that elevate handloom craftsmanship.
Key ResponsibilitiesTextile Designer
- Develop loom-ready textile designs (jacquard, dobby, and handloom layouts) using CAD or Illustrator.
- Create weave structures, color palettes, and pattern repeats for different clusters (Kanchipuram, Banaras, Paithani, etc.).
- Collaborate with artisans to translate digital concepts into woven samples.
- Research regional weaving techniques and identify innovation opportunities in motifs, yarns, and textures.
- Maintain design documentation for each cluster including fabric specs, motif references, and production notes.
- Work closely with the Creative Director and Chief Fashion Designer to align fabric development with upcoming collections.
Fashion Designer
- Design sarees, Indo-Western, and fusion silhouettes using handwoven textiles.
- Develop seasonal mood boards, collection themes, and styling directions.
- Collaborate with weavers and pattern masters to ensure design feasibility and production efficiency.
- Create tech packs with fabric details, embellishment notes, and garment construction guidelines.
- Conduct fittings, oversee sampling, and ensure aesthetic and quality consistency.
- Stay updated on global fashion trends, color forecasts, and sustainability practices to inspire innovation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s / Master’s in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or Weaving Technology (NID, NIFT, or equivalent).
- 5–10 years of experience in textile or fashion design — preferably within handloom, sustainable, or luxury segments.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or textile CAD software (NedGraphics, ArahWeave, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Indian weaving techniques, yarn types, and surface design.
- Excellent eye for color, texture, and composition.
- Ability to work hands-on with artisans, dyers, and loom technicians.
- Passion for sustainability, craft revival, and meaningful design.
