Textile Lab Technician

Job Title: In-House Lab Technician – Textile Fabric Testing

Job Purpose

To conduct routine and specialized testing on textile fabrics to ensure they meet specified quality standards and customer requirements. The technician will operate lab equipment, record results accurately, and support production and quality teams with timely test reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive fabric samples and register them for testing
• Perform physical and mechanical tests such as:
• GSM, thickness, and density
• Tensile/tear strength
• Seam strength and slippage
• Shrinkage and dimensional stability
• Colorfastness to washing, rubbing, perspiration, and light
• Water repellency / hydrostatic head (as applicable)
• Prepare test specimens according to relevant standards (ISO, ASTM, AATCC, etc.)
• Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment
• Record test data accurately in worksheets or lab software
• Prepare and issue test reports on time
• Calibrate equipment periodically and maintain calibration records
• Ensure correct sample storage, lab cleanliness, and safety procedures
• Communicate testing results and nonconformities to the Quality/Production team
• Assist in development tests for new fabrics when required

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Textile Technology, Chemical Technology, or related field
• 1–3 years’ experience in textile or garment testing laboratory (fresh graduates can also be considered)
• Familiarity with ISO/AATCC/ASTM standards is an advantage

Skills Required

• Basic understanding of textile materials and properties
• Ability to operate textile testing instruments
• Good documentation and reporting skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel/Word)
• Ability to work independently in a small lab setup

Work Environment

• Small in-house lab supporting production/QA
• Coordination with production, quality control, and merchandising teams
• May require shift work depending on production needs

Reporting To

• Quality Manager / Lab Supervisor

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs30,000.00 - Rs50,000.00 per month
