Roles & Responsibilities of a PGT Biology Teacher
1. Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach Biology (Botany, Zoology, Human Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, etc.) to Classes 9, 11
- Prepare lesson plans, presentations, and assignments as per CBSE guidelines.
- Use interactive teaching methods like smartboards, animations, and models for better understanding.
- Train students for CBSE board exams.
- Conduct doubt-clearing sessions and encourage critical thinking in students.
2. Laboratory & Practical Work
- Organize and supervise Biology practicals, ensuring compliance with the CBSE lab manual.
- Teach students how to use microscopes, prepare slides, and conduct dissections (where applicable).
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of biological specimens and chemicals.
- Maintain lab equipment, specimens, and safety measures.
3. Assessment & Evaluation
- Prepare and evaluate tests, quizzes, assignments, and practical exams.
- Track student performance and provide individual feedback.
- Maintain student records for academic progress and assessments.
4. Curriculum Development & Lesson Planning
- Stay updated with CBSE syllabus updates and new educational trends.
- Develop engaging and structured lesson plans aligned with CBSE guidelines.
- Integrate real-world applications of Biology into the syllabus.
5. Mentoring & Career Guidance
- Guide students on career options in medical, paramedical, research, and biotech fields.
- Encourage participation in Biology Olympiads, science fairs, and research projects.
- Motivate students to develop scientific temperament and research skills.
6. School Administration & Co-Curricular Activities
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and professional development workshops.
- Participate in school events, seminars, and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with other faculty members for interdisciplinary learning.
- Maintain discipline and a positive classroom environment.
