The TGT Social Science teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and concept-based instruction in Social Science subjects to middle and secondary school students. The teacher will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, historical understanding, and geographical literacy while following the prescribed curriculum and school philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:Academic Responsibilities
- Teach History, Geography, Civics/Political Science, and Economics as per the school curriculum (CBSE/ICSE/State Board).
- Prepare annual lesson plans, unit plans, and daily teaching plans.
- Use interactive teaching methods such as discussions, debates, projects, maps, charts, case studies, and presentations.
- Ensure conceptual clarity and application-based learning.
- Integrate current affairs and real-life examples into lessons.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design worksheets, assignments, projects, and assessments.
- Conduct periodic tests and examinations.
- Evaluate answer sheets and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic records and student progress reports.
Student Development
- Encourage analytical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and social awareness.
- Support students in developing values such as citizenship, ethics, tolerance, and responsibility.
- Identify learning difficulties and provide remedial support.
Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
- Ensure inclusivity and participation of all students.
- Manage classroom resources effectively.
Co-curricular & Institutional Duties
- Participate in school activities, assemblies, exhibitions, and field trips.
- Assist in social science clubs, quizzes, debates, and heritage activities.
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings (PTMs), and training sessions.
- Support school initiatives and academic improvement plans.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate/Post Graduate in Social Science (History/Geography/Political Science/Economics).
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience (freshers with strong subject knowledge may apply).
- CTET qualification (preferred for CBSE schools).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong subject knowledge and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi (as required).
- Ability to use smart boards, digital tools, and online resources.
- Student-centric and activity-based teaching approach.
- Good classroom management and interpersonal skills.
