The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.

In this context, we would be interested in recruiting suitable candidates for the position of TGT1 Social Science teacher for Classes 6, 7 and 8 to teach subjects such as History, Geography, Civics/Economics. The teacher will help students understand social, historical and civic concepts, build awareness of society and environment, and encourage critical thinking and responsible citizenship.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Science / Humanities — with a combination of at least two subjects among History, Geography, Economics, Political Science (one
• Professional teaching qualification: B.Ed. (or equivalent recognized teaching certificate).
• Knowledge on current affairs

Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Social Science lessons (history, geography, civics/economics) for Classes 6–8, in line with school/board syllabus.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments/projects and conduct assessments (tests, quizzes, assignments).
• Evaluate student performance, identify learning gaps, and provide remedial support or guidance to students as needed.
• Maintain class records of attendance, performance and progress.
• Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment that encourages discussion, participation and critical thinking.
• Collaborate with other teachers and school staff for curriculum planning, co‑curricular activities, and overall academic coordination.
