The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.
In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.
Summary
We are looking for a motivated and passionate Tamil teacher to teach Tamil language and literature to students of classes 8,9 & 10. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging and effective lessons, nurture students’ reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills in Tamil, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and cultural appreciation.
Educational Qualification & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Tamil or a relevant subject from a recognized university.

B.Ed. or equivalent professional teaching qualification (or as per school norms).

Strong command of Tamil — grammar, literature, writing, reading, speaking.

Good communication skills, patience, and ability to engage middle school students.

Prior experience teaching Tamil (especially at middle-school level) is preferred, but enthusiastic freshers may also apply.
Roles & Responsibilites

Plan, prepare and deliver structured Tamil language and literature lessons for classes 6, 7 and 8 according to the school’s curriculum.

Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, speaking and listening skills; cover prose, poetry, stories and other literary content as prescribed.

Design assignments, homework, tests and assessments; evaluate student work, monitor progress and give constructive feedback.

Provide remedial support or extra help to students who need additional guidance.

Maintain classroom discipline and foster a positive, inclusive and respectful learning atmosphere.

Encourage student participation, promote cultural and literary interest (through reading, storytelling, writing exercises, recitations, etc.).

Maintain academic records (attendance, assignments, grades) and prepare progress reports.

Collaborate with other teachers and school staff for integrated activities, events or curriculum planning.

Communicate with parents/guardians on student performance and development when needed.
