The Therapist position provides therapy services to individuals with emotional, behavioral, and other mental health disorders assuring trauma informed therapeutic services which contribute to the well-being of citizens of Grant and Adams Counties. Services may be provided in an individual and/or group setting.
New Hope/Kids Hope is seeking to provide a wide range of victim centered trauma informed advocacy services to survivors and victims of crimes (domestic violence, sexual assault, child physical and sexual abuse, general crimes, and elder abuse). A therapy service is also included in the broad menu of services offered at New Hope/Kids Hope. Trauma-informed individual and/or group treatment services is offered to individuals with emotional, behavioral and other mental disorders, to enhance independent choice, satisfaction and optimum participation in the community, family, and employment or education environments. This position is expected to work a minimum of 40 hour per week. The schedule for this position will be set by the Kids Hope CAC Coordinator and will be flexible to meet the needs of the community.

Provides treatment services to identified caseload, addressing the individual’s life domains and incorporating them into a written treatment plan, and assuring treatment is commensurate with clinician’s education and licensure/registration.

Completes and maintains appropriate records which meet Washington Administrative Code (WAC), Revised Codes of Washington (RCW), other regional contracts, and all other applicable Agency requirements.

Monitors the individual’s risk to self, others, property, and grave disability and refer to appropriate service.

Ensure the services being provided follow the National Children’s Alliance accreditation standards.

Participates regularly in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Meetings and provides valuable input and information to the team.

Assist the MDT in making informed, collective decisions during case reviews.

Collaboration with community partners (Law Enforcement, Department of Children, Youth and Families DCYF, Prosecuting Attorney’s, Medical, Children Advocacy Center staff, Mental Health providers and Victim Advocates)

Maintains strong working relationships with referring outside agencies, i.e., medical clinics, hospitals, convalescent centers, schools, and other county agencies, as appropriate, to ensure continuity of care for individuals served.

Creates individual treatment plans reflecting measurable goals, timelines, and treatment outcomes, incorporating natural supports and maintains the individual’s maximum level of functioning.

Makes referrals to appropriate resources when not provided by the Agency and are basic to the needs of the individual and coordinate services between other agencies.

Provides therapeutic intake services assessments to individuals.

Provides crisis intervention, therapy services, information and referrals, safety planning on a regular basis.

Documents accurately in specialized Agency programs to effectively track and gather information within Agency timelines.

Assures services are provided which support the individual’s rights and are compatible with the culture and primary language of the individual.

Actively participates in training and other meetings, whether in or out of office, as requested.

Provides therapeutic debriefing of difficult cases for advocates.

Required

Bachelor’s in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work with a strong emphasis in the clinical/therapy treatment of children and families who have experienced trauma and engaged in an accredited graduate level program.

Must complete the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs Therapist Sexual Assault Core training (20 hours).

Strong assessment (risk, suicidal, crisis intervention and diagnostic) and counseling skills.

Must be knowledgeable about the principles of sound therapeutic practices with victims of any crime, including working with the continuum of domestic violence services, and must demonstrate trauma informed practices sensitive to domestic violence and sexual assault issues in therapy.

Must have regular supervision, consultation and/or review of cases, by a Washington State licensed mental health professional.

Must complete 6 hours of on-going training annually in eligible and applicable subject matters.

The national public sex offender and child abuse registry at time of hire and every 5 years afterward.

Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving record.

Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential: Mental Health Counselor Licensure preferred. Must maintain an active status with Washington State.
Preferred-

Mental Health Professional as outlined in current WAC’s and RCW’s.

At least two years of related experience in the direct treatment of individuals and families with emotional/behavioral disorders.

Spanish Bilingual/Bicultural.

Therapist Core Training with Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs.

Washington State Licensure in Mental Health, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.

Training in and application of Evidence Based Practices with Trauma Focused emphasis.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience with data entry software programs.

A full range of clinical knowledge including treatment of children, adults, couples, and families.

Mental Health Specialist (see WAC and RCW) specific to children, geriatric, developmental disability, and ethnic minority.

Knowledge of County and Agency policies and procedures.

Although not the primary focus of this position, New Hope and Kids Hope facilities provide clinical services so all positions may be exposed to potentially verbally and physically aggressive individuals and/or environments, as well as exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office setting but may include any of the New Hope/Kid’s Hope offices as well as various work locations within the community. Because of the variance of location, the employee may be exposed to varying temperature, odors or vapors, sub-sanitary environments (pets, second-hand smoke), and weather. This position requires travel to attend local, state, and national meetings.
