Therapist, Family Reunification Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Career Resources Inc. is looking for a motivated and experienced Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to fill the role of Family Reunification Specialist. Therapists in this role will be responsible for providing community based and in-home counseling and case management services to families navigating the stresses of having a loved one return from a period of incarceration with the CT Department of Correction that may or may not have ongoing post incarceration legal supervision. Therapists in this role should have knowledge of the CT criminal justice system, working knowledge of community-based resources to help with the transition and experienced providing in home family and individual counseling. It is projected that this role with remote components that may vary depending on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.

JOB DUTIES:

Incumbents in this role will provide community based and in home clinical case management, needs assessment and supportive counseling in addressing family strengths, weaknesses and needs; develops, implements and maintains individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans for families; works with treatment teams to assist the family in achieving social and emotional stability; develops psychosocial assessments through clinical interviews; provides clinical treatment services such as: triage, crisis intervention, individual/family counseling, screening and planning; makes use of available community services and facilities to assist families in meeting identified needs; interprets and synthesizes client information, professional observations and evaluation reports in order to form professional judgments about services; monitors and evaluates effectiveness of treatment plans, documents treatment in clinical records; completes reports in accordance with agency and accrediting bodies; consults and collaborates with other behavioral health providers to improve delivery of services to families; maintains counseling treatment and standards as required; performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Professional Counseling, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice & Corrections systems of Connecticut.
  • Ability to work with and support a diverse customer base.
  • Ability to motivate clients and establish a supportive professional relationship with them.
  • Experience working with formally incarcerated men and women.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in and across teams in a collaborative manner.
  • Experience using virtual software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Pay: $38,000.00 per year
