As a non-sectarian Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities (APSSD), we serve students with a wide range of developmental, behavioral, learning, and vision-related needs in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Position Summary
St. Joseph’s School for the Blind seeks a Part-Time Therapy Aide to assist therapists in preparing and maintaining safe, clean treatment areas, supporting students during therapy sessions, and aiding with transfers, positioning, and ambulation. Duties include sanitizing equipment, transporting students, engaging in therapeutic activities, and helping with ADL skills under supervision. Candidates must follow school safety and confidentiality policies and be willing to work with students with challenging behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare therapy areas and adaptive equipment for daily use
- Maintain clean, orderly, safe treatment rooms
- Sanitize, clean, and organize the treatment rooms including all therapy and recreational equipment, toy, and games
- Sanitize and clean therapy areas before and after therapy sessions
- Assist in transfers and lifts to/from adaptive chairs/wheelchairs to mat tables and mat areas
- Assist physical therapists with positioning students in, at, or on equipment or treatment tables
- Assist therapists in supporting students during ambulation and gait training
- Transport or escort students to and from therapy session as needed
- Engage in reciprocal therapeutic play with students under the direct supervision of our therapists
- Assist students with activities of daily living (ADL) skills practiced during therapy sessions under the direct supervision of therapists as needed
- Aid therapists with monitoring and maintaining inventory of therapy supplies and assist them with re-stocking the therapy center and other therapy storage areas
- Be willing to work with students who exhibit challenging behaviors
- Follow all school safety, health, and confidentiality policies and procedures
- Participate in training and professional development related to working with students with disabilities
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- First Aid/CPR certification (required)
- Minimum of 1 year in therapy aide capacity working with children with disabilities, preferably in a school or clinical setting (required)
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with clinical staff
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Schedule: Monday to Friday - 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
Salary: $20.00 per hour
