Tile Mason

Key Responsibilities

1. Tile Installation & Finishing

• Install ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, marble, granite, and swimming pool tiles according to project specifications
• Align and straighten tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges
• Determine and implement layouts to achieve required patterns and designs
• Cut and shape tiles to fit around obstacles, corners, edges, drains, and irregular spaces
• Apply mortar/adhesive, position tiles, and fix them accurately
• Finish joints, apply grout, and clean excess material for a neat and professional finish

2. Surface Preparation

• Prepare surfaces by applying mortar beds, cement coats, or waterproofing layers
• Install lath, waterproof membranes, or backing materials as required
• Ensure surfaces are level, clean, and ready for tiling works
• Conduct surface checks to ensure proper bonding and alignment

3. Material Application & Handling

• Mix and apply mortar, cement, plaster, adhesives, grout, and other tiling materials
• Use appropriate tools such as trowels, tile cutters, brushes, and screeds effectively
• Apply sealants to ensure grout is water- and stain-resistant
• Handle and store materials safely to avoid damage and wastage

4. Marble, Granite & Pool Tiling Works

• Cut, polish, and install marble and granite where required
• Install specialized swimming pool tiles and finishes
• Ensure proper installation around drains, skimmers, overflow channels, and fixtures
• Maintain high-quality finishing standards for pool and landscaping areas

5. Repair & Maintenance

• Remove damaged tiles, grout, and adhesives
• Replace cracked or defective tiles and restore finishes
• Ensure proper sealing of joints and drainage connections
• Carry out maintenance and corrective works as instructed by supervisors

6. Tools & Equipment Handling

• Operate hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and finishing tiles
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
• Follow safe working practices and company safety procedures at all times

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tile Mason / Tiler, preferably in swimming pool or landscaping projects
• Strong knowledge of tile installation techniques, materials, and tools
• Experience in marble and granite works is an advantage
• Ability to read basic drawings and follow layout patterns
• Good attention to detail and quality finishing skills
• Physically fit and able to work in site conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of waterproofing and pool finishing standards is preferred
