Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation: Clean, level, and smooth surfaces (walls or floors) with plaster, sand, or cement before starting.
- Measuring & Cutting: Measure areas to figure out the tile layout. Use tile cutters and wet saws to cut shapes around pipes and corners.
- Installation: Mix and apply mortar, glue, or adhesives, then press and push tiles firmly into place.
- Aligning: Use leveling tools and straightedges to ensure the tiles are even and perfectly straight.
- Finishing: Pack grout into the gaps between tiles, scrape away the extra grout, and wipe the tiles clean.
- Repairs: Remove old tiles and repair cracks. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
Requirements and Skills
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in construction or masonry.
- Tool Knowledge: Ability to safely use power tools, hand cutters, trowels, and air compressors.
- Physical Fitness: Good stamina, balance, and the ability to lift heavy materials and work on your knees for long shifts.
- Accuracy: Strong math and measuring skills to calculate the correct number of tiles.
- Language: Basic English or Hindi to read site drawings and communicate with project managers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 6]
