The Tire Man is responsible for the inspection, repair, replacement, and maintenance of tires on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and other heavy-duty equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring fleet safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT regulations. The ideal candidate has experience with commercial truck tires, works efficiently under pressure, and prioritizes safety and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect tires on trucks and trailers for wear, damage, and proper inflation
- Perform tire repairs (patching, plugging, section repairs) as needed
- Mount, dismount, rotate, and balance tires on heavy-duty vehicles
- Replace worn or damaged tires on-site or in-shop
- Maintain proper tire pressure levels and perform daily/weekly fleet tire checks
- Record tire usage, repairs, and replacements in maintenance logs or fleet management system
- Maintain inventory of tires and tire repair materials
- Operate tire-changing machines, balancers, and air-powered tools
- Respond to roadside service calls for tire issues (if applicable)
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and DOT regulations
- Support mechanics and other shop staff with related maintenance tasks as needed
