MISSION/VISION

Healthcare Alternative Systems (H.A.S.) provides a continuum of multicultural and bilingual (English/Spanish) behavioral care and social services that empower individuals, families, and communities. H.A.S. seeks to implement sustainable programs that benefit society by improving the well-being and recovery efforts of those individuals, families, and communities impacted by behavioral health problems. With eleven locations across the Chicagoland area, H.A.S. provides services and resources to individuals at every stage in their behavioral/recovery journey so that they can be successful and become contributing members of their communities.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a licensed provider, the TMS Technician is responsible for administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments to patients experiencing treatment-resistant depression and other behavioral health conditions. This role requires strong clinical support skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build rapport with patients while ensuring safety, comfort, and adherence to treatment protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Administer TMS treatments in accordance with provider-prescribed protocols and clinical guidelines.

  • Prepare patients for treatment sessions, including positioning, equipment setup, and education.

  • Monitor patients during sessions for comfort, safety, and any adverse effects.

  • Document all treatments accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system (e.g.,Carelogic).

  • Track patient progress and report any concerns or changes to the clinical team.

  • Maintain and calibrate TMS equipment to ensure proper functioning.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and infection control standards.

  • Provide a supportive, professional, and client-centered environment.

  • Assist with scheduling, patient coordination, appointment confirmations, and supporting consistent patient engagement and adherence to treatment services.

  • Educate patients on treatment expectations, safety precautions, and aftercare instructions.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and administrative staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Must possess, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Human Services/Social Sciences, or a related field from a regionally accredited educational institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements where applicable.

  • Previous experience working in behavioral health, psychiatry, healthcare, patient care, or related clinical settings strongly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and documentation skills required.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism, therapeutic boundaries, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing mental health symptoms in a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented manner.

  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), scheduling systems, and basic computer applications preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with TMS therapy or neurostimulation treatments.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health diagnoses (e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD).
  • Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

TMS TRAINING & CERTIFICATION REQUIRMENT

  • Employee must successfully complete all required Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) clinical training and competency requirements within the designated training period following hire.

  • Training may include manufacturer-specific certification programs, internal competency evaluations, safety training, and physician-supervised clinical instruction related to the operation and administration of TMS treatment.

  • Employee must demonstrate competency in:

    • TMS treatment setup and administration

    • Participant monitoring and safety procedures

    • Documentation standards

    • Emergency response protocols

    • Infection control procedures

    • Identification and reporting of adverse reactions or clinical concerns

    • Employee must maintain all required certifications, competencies, and continuing education requirements as mandated by organizational policy, supervising provider, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
