About the Position
Bellevue Sunrise Childcare is expanding and looking for a loving, patient, and responsible Toddler Classroom Teacher Assistant to join our team. We are a childcare center located in the Downtown Bellevue area, serving children from 12 months to 5 years old in four classrooms. Our main classroom languages are Mandarin, English, and Cantonese.
This position will work primarily in our toddler classroom for children ages 2-3 years old. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young children and will work closely with the lead teacher and other staff members to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
Responsibilities
- Consistently monitor and supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Communicate with children in a warm, positive, and respectful manner, and build caring relationships with toddlers.
- Support the lead teacher in carrying out daily classroom routines and age-appropriate activities.
- Assist children during table activities, outdoor play, circle time, snacks, lunch, nap time, and transitions.
- Guide children in learning classroom expectations, including sharing, cleaning up, following simple directions, and using gentle hands.
- Support children's social and emotional development by helping them express feelings and interact appropriately with peers.
- Assist with diaper changing and potty-training routines as needed.
- Prepare and serve snacks and meals according to center procedures.
- Help children settle down and rest during nap time.
- Organize the classroom, clean learning materials, and disinfect toys and surfaces as required.
- Once per week, work together with another teacher to clean and organize the kitchen area according to center cleaning procedures.
Job Requirements
We are happy to guide qualified candidates through required steps if they do not already have all of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- MERIT account, as required by DCYF for employees working with children.
- Criminal history and background check clearance.
- TB test results required prior to employment.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Food Worker Card / Food Handler Permit.
- Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Completion of the initial 30-hour STARS training within six months of hire.
- Completion of at least 10 hours of continuing education training each year.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay range: $21-$24 per hour, depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
- Paid holidays after three months of employment.
- Fully paid Spring Break and Winter Break during the center's scheduled closures after three months of employment.
