Position Summary: This position is for the Two Year old toddler classroom. The shift is Monday - Friday 7:30 Am- 1:30 PM.
The Assistant Teacher at The Oaks Childcare and Preschool Center provides support to the Lead Teacher and assists in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for young children. The Assistant Teacher contributes to the creation of a nurturing and engaging learning environment, promotes children's social, emotional, and academic development, and collaborates with colleagues to ensure the well-being and safety of all children in the classroom.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum Support:
Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, activities, and learning experiences that support children's growth and development.
Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and positive social interactions.
Engage children in play-based learning activities, group games, and educational experiences that promote cognitive, physical, and social-emotional skills.
Classroom Management:
Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
Supervise children during classroom activities, transitions, meals, and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist with the implementation of positive behavior management strategies and techniques to support children's self-regulation and social skills development.
Parent and Family Engagement:
Establish positive and open communication with parents and families, providing updates on children's progress, achievements, and daily activities.
Support parent involvement in the classroom and center activities, including volunteering, attending events, and participating in parent-teacher conferences.
Assist with the creation and distribution of family newsletters, educational resources, and other communication materials to promote family engagement and support children's learning at home.
Professional Development:
Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and effectiveness as an early childhood educator.
Seek feedback from colleagues, supervisors, and professional mentors to identify areas for growth and improvement in job performance.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with children, families, and colleagues, adhering to center policies and ethical standards.
